SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to columns, in which mass exchange and heat exchange occur, and to contact plates in such columns, and to a method of using contact plates for mass exchange and/or heat exchange to improve interaction between flows of fluids flowing inside columns, and can be used in chemical industry in distillation and absorption plants. Contact plate 20 comprises a plurality of webs 38, which provide a change in the direction of flow of liquid flowing along the upper surface of the tray of the tray, and narrowing its flow path across width, as well as increasing the flow path length when the liquid flows from inlet zone 26 to outlet opening 34 on the tray of the tray of the column. Drain cup 36 extends downwardly from the fluid inlet into the outlet opening, and then its downward transfer to the discharge opening, located at lower end of drain sleeve. Said drain bowl 36 includes an inclined or horizontal portion, which provides placement of outlet hole under zone of inlet 26 on web of plate of column and in position of vertical alignment with it, wherein inlet zone and outlet hole are located diagonally opposite each other on opposite ends of tray plate.

EFFECT: group of inventions increases the volume flow rate of liquid in any section of the web by narrowing the flow path and reduces the probability of liquid vapor carrying off at low values of liquid flow rate.
