SUBSTANCE: method for initialising coders and decoders. Method for decoding a video frame of a video sequence, method comprising receiving a slice in a video decoder; identifying a type of slice as one of a group consisting of a first slice type and a second slice type; receiving a flag for determining an initialisation method corresponding to slice; initialising, based on received flag and identified type of slice, a context-adaptive binary arithmetic coding (CABAC) context associated with slice using one of a group consisting of a first initialisation method and a second initialisation method; and decoding video frame using type of slice and one of first initialisation method and second initialisation method; wherein an initialisation method, which initialises a CABAC context associated with a B-slice type is a B-slice method, in case that a value of received flag is equal to a first value, and an initialisation method which initialises the CABAC context associated with B-slice type is a B-slice method, in case that value of the received flag is equal to a second value.
EFFECT: technical result is efficient decoding of video.
