FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a material for cultivation or eukaryotic cell delivery. Material comprises plant derived, mechanically disintegrated cellulose nanofibres and/or derivatives thereof, in a form of a hydrogel or membrane in a wet state. Diameter of cellulose nanofibres or nanofibre bundles in cellulose nanofibres and/or derivatives thereof is less than 1 mcm, preferably less than 200 nm, more preferably less than 100 nm. Material is obtained by mixing plant derived, mechanically disintegrated cellulose nanofibres and/or derivatives thereof with water. Also disclosed is a cell culture or cell delivery matrix, comprising living cells and said material, forming a hydrogel, wherein cells are present in said matrix in a three-dimensional or two-dimensional arrangement. To perform cell culturing, method includes contacting obtained cells with matrix forming material, wherein cell culturing occurs in a three- or two-dimensional arrangement. Also disclosed is use of said material for laboratory and/or industrial purposes as a medium or component of medium for storage of cells in vitro.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides stability of cells in a matrix, as well as homogenous distribution thereof in said matrix.
