FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for inducing flow of electrically conductive molten material in a furnace. Apparatus includes a furnace chamber and a port in fluid communication with furnace chamber and having an inclined lower wall, apparatus comprises a bidirectional induction unit mounted to inclined lower wall of port for inducing flow in molten material in port, a retractable channel plate assembly positioned in port to define an extraction flow channel for molten material between channel plate assembly and inclined lower wall, a drive arrangement for moving channel plate assembly into and out of port, including a sensor system for measuring level of molten material in port and a feedback system for providing information regarding position of channel plate assembly.
EFFECT: invention enables to use bidirectional induction unit, which operates in two modes - mixing molten material inside furnace chamber and dispensing molten material from furnace chamber through port for casting or other needs.
