SUBSTANCE: applicator for surgical fasteners dispensing includes a casing, a trigger system housed in the casing, a drive connected to the casing to activate the launch system, an elongated rod extending from the casing. The cap is fixed to the distal end of the elongated rod. The cap has a lower distal edge that extends laterally beyond the outer diameter of the elongated rod. The length of the lower distal edge of the cap exceeds the outside diameter of the elongated rod. The cap has a distal end face sloping upward and proximal to the lower distal edge, and a surgical fastener delivery window that is formed in the distal end face. The window has a lower end located at a distance from the lower distal edge.
