FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of extracting a targeted light rare-earth element from an aqueous solution containing two or more elements of La, Ce, Pr, and Nd by contacting the organic phase containing extractant with an aqueous solution in a counterflow multistage mixer-settler. Herewith an alkaline solution is added. Then the organic phase is brought into contact with the aqueous solution of acid for reverse extraction of the targeted element. Extractant represents dialkyl diglycol amido acid of the formula: R1R2NCOCH2OCH2COOH, where R1 and R2 are alkyl, herewith at least one of them has at least 6 carbon atoms.
EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency of extraction of light rare-earth element on an industrial scale.
