FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to application of ion-plasma coatings, in particular, to a method of producing damping coating on metal article surface, and can be used for surface treatment of metal articles made of titanium alloy, such as blades of compressor of gas turbine engines and units. Preliminary preparation of article surface is performed. Article and current-conducting material made of aluminium-based alloy or nickel, additionally alloyed with rare-earth metal, are placed in processing zone, vacuum is created, negative potential is supplied to the article and separately to the current-conducting material. Vacuum arc is excited on the current-conducting material. Bombardment, cleaning and heating of article surface are performed with ions of the current-conducting material. Accumulation and diffusion of ions of the current-conducting material are performed on article surface at temperature of said surface below the temperature of article material softening with formation of coating at negative potential of 1-50 V on the article and during intermittent bombardment of article surface with ions of inert gas with energy of 20-40 keV.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is improvement of damping capacity of metal article made of titanium alloy with preservation of its heat resistance.
