FIELD: safety.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for remote monitoring of an area and can be used in detection means with an extended detection zone, built on radio beam intruder detection principle, for signalling coverage of four-way road intersections. Method involves deploying on four-way road intersection four detection means with an extended detection zone, so that axis of detection zone is maximally lose to centre of intersection at a distance equal to double maximum width of detection zone; detection zone of each detection is offset relative to each other and centre of intersection so that by its smaller part forms a quadrangle around centre of intersection, and by larger part be outside said quadrangle and lie across one of four directions of bypassing intersection; determining direction of movement of offender through intersection by order of arrival of alarm signals from two detection means according to look up table of direction of movement of offender and sequence of detection means outputting an alarm signal; determining instance of bypassing intersection and direction of said bypass based on detection means, outputting single alarm signal during preset time interval from moment of arrival of said signal.

EFFECT: technical effect is further enabling determination of movement of offender bypassing an intersection and direction of said movement; longer signalling boundary, covering intersection bypass path without using any additional detection means.
