FIELD: safety.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for remote monitoring of an area and can be used in detection means with an extended detection zone, built on radio beam or infrared principles of detection, for signalling coverage of T-shaped intersection. Method involves deploying on T-shaped road intersection two detection means so that extended detection zone of each detection means covers two roads at once, short and long distance between points of intersection of extended detection zone with roads are in ratio of 7:17 and subsequent algorithmic determination of direction of movement of offender based on sequence of two alarm signals or a sequence of three alarm signals and relationship between delay time intervals of their arrival, coming over a set interval of time. Method includes a preparatory step with deployment of two detection means on a set scheme and a main step, which begins from moment of appearance of offender at intersection and entering detection zone of detection means. During main step direction of movement is determined by an algorithm, taking into account recorded sequence of numbers of detection means, outputting alarm signals over a set time interval, and relationship between time intervals of delay in arrival of alarm signals.

EFFECT: invention provides reduction of number of detection means required for signalling coverage of T-shaped intersection to two while maintaining possibility of determining direction of offender through intersection.
