FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and can be used for determination of averaged values of wind speed and direction. For this purpose, a multi-rotor type unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is sent to a previously selected point with the specified geographical coordinates and at the required height. Unmanned aerial vehicle is set into the altitude retention mode and is in horizontal position, then the mode of uniform rotation around the vertical axis is switched, and after the period time required for balancing the speed of the unmanned aerial vehicle relative to wind, latitude and longitude of the first point and current time are measured by means of a satellite navigation system, and after a period of time equal to a complete revolution of the vehicle around the vertical axis, the coordinates and time in the second point are measured, wherein the complete revolution and direction of the unmanned aerial vehicle is determined by means of an electronic magnetic compass, then wind direction and speed are calculated by solving the inverse geodetic problem.
EFFECT: increased accuracy.
