FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment, particularly meteorology, and can be used to determine wind direction and speed in vertical section. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is launched into the area of interest to measure the drone velocity as per the readings of the satellite navigation system module. At that, the UAV made capable to hover in the specified point of space, when the required point with the preselected coordinates is reached, is transferred into the geographic coordinates holding mode, which is periodically switched off for the UAV speed setting of a certain fraction from the wind velocity, and calculating wind speed based on readings of satellite navigation system module. Then the mode of geographic coordinates retention is switched on again and measurements are taken at another height. Calibration of measurement results is carried out by means of comparison of measured velocities of UAV at different time intervals with switched off mode of holding geographical coordinates.

EFFECT: simple process of measuring and calibrating measurement results.
