FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. Method of producing titanium dioxide involves reaction of tetrabutoxytitanium while stirring with an organic liquid and then with a precipitating component with subsequent heating and conditioning. Organic liquid used is acetylacetone in the amount of 10-40 vol% of the amount of tetrabutoxytitanium. Precipitating component used is represented by a mixture of ethyl alcohol and water with the water content of 40-80 vol% of the total volume of alcohol and water mixture. Ratio of the organic liquid to the precipitating component ranges from 1:20 to 1:8. After stirring the said components the obtained mixture is maintained until formation of a transparent solution and poured into boiling distilled water. Volume of the water herewith is to be 3-3.5 times greater than the one of the mixture of all the components. Mixture is boiled for 50-70 minutes.
EFFECT: invention enables obtaining titanium dioxide in the form of sol, reducing power consumption, increasing its efficiency.
