FIELD: food industry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for decreasing protein digestive effort in infants aged from 0 to 36 months and to a nutritional formula for infants. Method comprises administering to an infant a nutritional composition that has from 5 to 20 wt. % protein based on dry weight of the nutritional composition; and at least 10 wt. % of a protein comprising composition fermented by lactic acid bacteria, wherein the lactic acid bacteria are inactivated after fermentation, based on dry weight of the nutritional composition; wherein the nutritional composition, which includes lactic protein, is fermented by lactic acid bacteria but is not fermented by Lactobacillus bulgaricus, comprises from 0.10 to 1.5 wt. % of the sum of lactate and lactic acid based on dry weight and wherein the sum of L-lactic acid and L-lactate is more than 50 wt. % based on the sum of total lactic acid and lactate.
EFFECT: present invention provides better release of endogenic proteases, easier digestion, reduced loss of endogenous protein due to administering to an infant the nutritional formula.
