FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a sliding saddle system for a chordophone instrument, instrument having a neck, a soundboard and a soundbox, sliding saddle system having at least one combination comprising: I) a bridge plate for connecting to an inner surface of soundboard; II) a saddle for locating on soundboard, saddle comprising an opening for accepting a string and directing it through a slot in soundboard; III) an underblock for retaining string, underblock in slidable engagement with bridge plate; and IV) an adjustable connector for connecting saddle to underblock, such that in use, underblock is slid into position on bridge plate, and connector is tightened, thereby locating saddle on soundboard.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of tension on soundboard.
