FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of extracting esters of vinyl alcohol from a gas stream, containing 70-99.5 wt% ethylene and 0.5-30 wt% esters of vinyl alcohol, at pressure in range from 0.5 to 10 MPa and temperature in range of 5 °C to 50 °C, involving following steps: a) cooling gas stream in a first heat exchanger by means of cooling medium to temperature in range of -5 °C to 40 °C; b) removing uncondensed part of gas stream from first heat exchanger and its transmission to a second heat exchanger; c) cooling gas stream in second heat exchanger to temperature in range of -20 °C to 5 °C; d) removing uncondensed part of gas stream from second heat exchanger, reducing pressure of gas stream to 0.2-3 MPa and its transmission to separator; e) removing uncondensed part of gas stream from separator and transfer as cooling medium into second heat exchanger; and f) removing cooling medium in form of gas stream of ethylene with low content of esters of vinyl alcohol from second heat exchanger. Invention also relates to a method for copolymerisation of ethylene and esters of vinyl alcohol in presence of free-radical polymerisation initiators at pressure varying from 110 MPa to 500 MPa and temperature in range of 100 °C to 350 °C in a continuous action polymeriser, including a method of extracting esters of vinyl alcohol from gas stream containing 70-99.5 wt% ethylene and 0.5-30 wt% esters of vinyl alcohol in any of items 1-5.

EFFECT: efficient and cheap method enables to extract ethers of vinyl alcohol from gas streams.
