FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: provided is a method for determination of rigidity of a transverse mode of one or more flow-measuring fluid pipelines (103A, 103B) in vibration meter (5). Method includes the step of generating vibrations of at least one of one or more flow-measuring fluid pipelines (103A, 103B) at an oscillating drive mode. Signals (310) of the drive mode sensor are received on the basis of an oscillatory response to the drive mode oscillations. At least one of said one or more flow-measuring fluid pipelines (103A, 103B) oscillates at a transverse oscillation mode, herewith the transverse mode is approximately perpendicular to the drive mode. Signals (317) of the transverse mode sensor are received on the basis of an oscillatory response to the transverse mode oscillations. Method additionally includes determination of rigidity (318) of the transverse mode basing on signals (317) of the transverse mode sensor.

EFFECT: provided is an improved system for determination of rigidity of the transverse mode and detection of a possible problem in the vibration meter, which may be caused by erosion, corrosion or a coating, that affect the rigidity of the transverse mode.
