FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: very high frequency vibratory flow metre (100) has a flow metre assembly (10) and metre electronics (20). The flow metre assembly (10) includes one or more flow conduits (103A, 103B) and is configured to generate very high frequency response which is higher than a predetermined maximum decoupling frequency for the flowing fluid independent of the size of foreign material or composition of foreign material. The decoupling ratio (Ap/Af) is approximately 3:1 for entrained gas at the very high frequency and approximately equal to 3/(1+(2* pp/pf)) for entrained solids at very high frequency. The decoupling ratio (Ap/Af) is the ratio of the particle amplitude (Ap) to the fluid amplitude (Af), where pp is the particle density of foreign material, and pf is density of the flowing fluid. The metre electronics (20) is connected to the flow metre assembly (10) and is configured to receive the very high frequency vibrational response and generate one or more flow measurements therefrom.

EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of measuring flow rate of multiphase fluids.
