FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to plasmon integral optics and can be used in designing plasmon devices components for various purposes. Single-mode plasmon waveguide, in form of extended V-shaped channel in metal film on substrate filled with dielectric, has cross-section periodically varying along waveguide length. At that, said cross groove cross-section varying satisfies condition of photonic crystal formation with mode prohibited area, localized at groove edges, with period L, determined by formula
, where c is speed of light, ν is radiation operating frequency, εm and εd are metal and dielectric at operating frequency dielectric permeabilities, respectively.
EFFECT: technical result consists in possibility of single-mode propagation mode of optical plasmons in waveguide based on V-shaped groove in metal film.
