FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to probing remote objects with electromagnetic radiation and a method of detecting an object on a convex metal surface behind a line of its horizon. Method includes generation on the surface of a collimated beam of plasmon-polaritons (BPP) with a propagation distance comparable to the distance from the BPP source to the object. Beam is directed along the normal line to the horizon line, it is scanned with a beam, the radiation reflected by the object is recorded in the form of BPP and presence of the object behind the horizon line is determined from the results of measurements.
EFFECT: technical result consists in enabling detection of objects located behind the horizon line on the metal surface and their partial localization.
