FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of preparing catalysts for medium-temperature conversion of carbon monoxide with steam, which can be used in industry when producing nitrogen-hydrogen mixture for ammonia synthesis. Method involves mechanical activation of an iron-containing component, drying, moulding and calcining granules, wherein iron-containing component used is powder of metallic iron, mechanical activation is performed first in water to achieve degree of oxidation of iron of 65÷85 %, followed by adding chromic anhydride, then adding to obtained mass a mixture of oxides of copper and nickel in amount of 1.0÷3.0 % at a weight ratio of CuO:NiO=1:0.2÷0.5 and mixing.
EFFECT: technical result of claimed invention is reduction of amount of synthesised ammonia and amines during operation.
