FIELD: oil industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining relative density of petroleum oil fractions and can be used in oil refining and petrochemical industry. Method of determining relative density of petroleum oil fractions by determining its color characteristics, coordinates of red, green and blue color. Color coordinates RsRGB, GsRGB and BsRGB of petroleum oil fractions are determined in color sRGB system in bitmap graphic editor images of petroleum oil fraction, which is recorded with daylight radiation source, by placing petroleum oil fraction in transparent flask. Wherein relative density is calculated by formula: , where is relative density of petroleum oil fraction (at standard temperature of sample 15 °C and water temperature 4 °C), RsRGB, GsRGB, BsRGB are coordinates of respectively red, green and blue colors in sRGB color system, determined on images of petroleum oil fraction.

EFFECT: technical result is simple and high efficiency of method of determining relative density (at temperature of sample 15 °C and water temperature 4 °C) of petroleum oil fractions of primary oil processing.
