FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for determining the crack resistance of arc surfacing of rollers of continuous-casting plant and can be used in the manufacture and arc surfacing repair of rollers of secondary cooling system of continuous-casting plant. Arc surfacing of the analyzed material is carried out in the slots of the witness sample made from steel grade of roller of continuous-casting plant. Then the sample is periodically heated in the furnace to the preset temperature with further abrupt cooling thereof in a water-salt solution. Every ten "heating-cooling" cycles the sample is subjected to inspection to detect cracks. Number of cycles, which leads to crack formation, is a quantitative index of resistance of deposited material against cracking.
EFFECT: method enables urgent assessment of the suitability of materials and modes of arc surfacing of rollers of continuous-casting plant.
