FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, ophthalmology and aims at evaluating differentiation of the macular retina in children. Optical coherent tomography is performed. Linear tomographic is obtained, exported in the form of a digital image of the macular zone, digital image are analyzed. Determined the retinal thickness at 3.0 mm from the fovea (Th), thickness of the macular minimum in fovea (Min), thickness of the macular maximum in parafoveolar zone, fovea width (W). Calculated macular index by formula: MI = (Th-Min) * Max/W. At a value of MI 5-12 estimated differentiation of macular zone as normal.

EFFECT: method provides the objective, accuracy of diagnostic results violations of differentiation of the macula, determination of indications for treatment, evaluation of dynamic of pathological process, functional results, prediction of clinical course of various diseases (retinopathy of prematurity, hereditary retinal dystrophy, congenital cataracts, congenital glaucoma) affecting violation of formation of retina, especially in sensitive period of infant's life.
