FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for external non-destructive inspection of pipes. Core of invention is that the installation is made in the form of a module for monitoring a pipe wall thickness, a lengthwise defects monitoring module, a transverse defects monitoring module, both equipped with appropriate scanning devices. Wall thickness monitoring module and the lengthwise defects monitoring module are equipped with devices for positioning the scanning devices with sensors relative to the pipe. Device for positioning is made in the form of three housings and fixed in them with the possibility of rotation guide elements in the form of a disc fixed in the housing inclined relative to the pipe axis. Discs are secured in the housings by means of a connecting element, a screw and a spring and are arranged at the inlet and at the outlet of the first two modules. Housings are movably connected to each other with the possibility of simultaneous convergence-divergence relative to the pipe. Discs are made with annular chamfers. One of the annular chamfers are contact surfaces with the pipe and are made with a thermo-hardenable layer. Other annular chamfers provide more compact arrangement of the discs relative to the sensors for reduction of the "dead" zone of scanning. Scanning devices are arranged able to rotate in opposite directions.
EFFECT: improving pipes monitoring quality, wider range of monitored pipe diameters without increasing overall dimensions of the plant, as well as higher reliability of the plant operation.
