FIELD: data processing.

SUBSTANCE: method of observed from spacecraft glacier coming-off moment determining is based on glacier movement determining over specified time interval, determination of fixed characteristic points on glacier slopes. Performing glacier first survey and fixed characteristic points from spacecraft. Determining moment of glacier image control section line crossing, measuring distance by obtained image from control section line to glacier tongue maximum remote extreme point. In case if glacier and control section line images do not intersect, additional survey is performed. Determining change of measured distance from control section line to glacier tongue extreme point and then determining distance from glacier front part to object, achievement of which by glacier will lead to catastrophic event, and determining time.

EFFECT: technical result consists in determining moment of glacier catastrophic coming-off remotely from spacecraft and in increasing accuracy of determining moment of glacier catastrophic coming-off.
