SUBSTANCE: method for monitoring of the situation of the front part of the glacier on the circular orbit of a spacecraft (SC) includes determination of the current orbit parameters, glacier survey from the SC with and still characteristic of ground points in the moments taken with a specified time interval, and determination of the speed of the glacier front part based on the obtained images. The SC orbit is further adjusted, changing its height in the selected range, a survey is performed with the specified time interval based on the conditions of determination of the glacier front part movement based on the obtained images, the survey is performed with intervals starting from the date of the previous survey, less than or equal to the predicted (based on the images obtained) current minimum time before the glacier front part reaches the ground object, minus the set time for decision on preparations for an emergency on the ground object. Based on the images obtained, the distances from the characteristic ground points to the front part of the glacier are determined.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of glacier movement control.
