SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine and can be used for differential diagnostic technique for scalp microsporia and alopecia areata in children. Method of dermatoscopy determines: “hair in form of comma”, “zigzag shape hair”, “corckscrew-shaped hair”. If at least one of said three signs is found and signs specific for alopecia areata are absent, namely "yellow points", "black points" (cadaverized hair), "hair in the form of exclamation mark", "miniature hair, lacking pigment (vellus)", scalp microsporia is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method enables accurate differential diagnosis of scalp microsporia and alopecia areata in children, reducing length of examination and well-timed preventive actions due to detection of most significant symptoms during dermatoscopy.
