FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the materials cutting machining and may be used for surfaces milling in tools with in double-sided indexable inserts. Polygonal cutting insert has the first and the second end surfaces which are connected by peripheral side surfaces, where each end surface defines the first and the second face planes respectively. The peripheral side surface has the first peripheral side portions in the circumferential direction alternating with the second peripheral side portions. The first peripheral side parts are inverse replicas of the second peripheral side parts. Each peripheral side part comprises the first and the second sub-surfaces which form different angles with the first and the second end caps planes. The first and the second sub-surfaces intersect with each other between the first and the second planes of the end caps to form a line which is parallel to the first and the second planes socket. Structural elements of the cutting tool comprising a plate body and a cutting tool for installing platinum are disclosed.

EFFECT: invention provides the use of the cutting edges with a positive axial rake angle and a negative radial rake angle with respect to the workpiece during milling.
