FIELD: video processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and devices for processing and, in particular, decoding of changes in time of encoding of a dynamic range of video images or methods for encoding of a high dynamic range (hereinafter – HDR). A video decoder is made with the possibility of decoding of a video with a large dynamic range, consisting of images sequential in time, in which the video consists of sequential time segments (S1, S2) consisting of a set of images (I1, I2) sequential in time, which have pixel colors, while pixel colors in different time segments are set by brightness signals corresponding to pixel brightness in accordance with different electro-optical transfer functions (hereinafter – EOTF), while images in some segments are set in accordance with dynamically changed electro-optical transfer functions, which are transferred as a separate function for each image sequential in time, while images in other segments have brightness signals set by a fixed electro-optical transfer function, information about which is additionally transmitted in data packages (DRAM), which are transmitted less frequently than a frequency of image repetition, while at least one of the mentioned data packages (DRAM) characterizing the electro-optical transfer function of brightness signals of image pixels after moment (t1) of change between the first and the second segment is transmitted until moment (t1) of change; and, similarly, a corresponding encoder, which composites a segmented video stream, guaranteeing that at least one proper package (DRAM) describing EOTF, in accordance with which brightness signals of a later video segment are encoded, is received by receivers until the transition to a segment with another HDR encoding method.

EFFECT: possibility of processing of different HDR video from different sources with different encoding parameters.
