FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used in various units with power transformers, operating with high load fluctuations in time, when reducing idling losses has large value. Method of reducing power losses involves comparing current consumed by a load from power supply source, with a preset value, transformer operation modes change by closing or opening of their inputs, outputs, depending on comparison results, inputs of transformers are connected in series, voltage on load is obtained by adding output voltages of both transformers. Device for reducing power losses provides technical result owing to that for two transformers of different power respective inputs and outputs are connected in series with each other, and in parallel to inputs, outputs of first transformer of lower power are connected to switches, state of which is determined by control unit connected with unit of current converters, consumed from power supply source by load. Disclosed method and device, compared to prototype, widens range of variation of reactive components of load, in which is provided efficiency, improved reliability and maximum simplification of implementation, since fewer (approximately 2-fold) switches are required, especially at high-voltage input.
EFFECT: technical result achieved during implementation of this method, is higher reliability, wider range of operating voltages, reduction of energy losses for loads of various size and nature.
