IRON-BASED ACCELERATOR FOR CURING POLYMERS Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC C08F4/00 C08F4/28 C08F4/40 C08F299/00 C08L67/00

Abstract RU 2610499 C2

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an accelerator solution, suitable for formation of a redox system with peroxide and curing polymers, such as unsaturated polyester polymer, vinyl ester polymer and methacrylate polymer. Accelerator solution contains: (i) an iron compound, selected from iron carboxylates, iron 1,3-dioxo complexes and iron dicylcopentadienyl complexes, (ii) a compound of a second transition metal; wherein weight ratio of iron and second transition metal ranges from 3:1 to 200:1, (iii) a solvent selected from a group, including diethyl phosphate, dibutyl phosphate, tributyl phosphate, triethyl phosphate and dibutyl phosphite. Second transition metal is selected from a group, including Co and Mn, provided that accelerator solution contains less than 1 wt% ascorbic acid. Described also is a two-component composition, comprising first and second components. First component comprises a pre-accelerated polymer composition, comprising: (i) a curable polymer, (ii) iron compound selected from iron carboxylates, iron 1,3-dioxo complexes and iron dicylcopentadienyl complexes, (ii) a compound of a second transition metal; wherein weight ratio of iron and second transition metal ranges from 3:1 to 200:1, provided that pre-accelerated polymer contains less than 0.01 wt% ascorbic acid. Second component contains peroxide, selected from a group of organic hydroperoxides, ketone peroxides, peroxycarbonates and peroxyesters.

EFFECT: technical result is providing accelerator solution based on iron and pre-accelerated polymer, containing an accelerating system based on iron in presence of reactivity stimulants – compounds of a second transition metal, selected from Co and Mn, using their small amount without creation of toxicity problems, and shorter duration of hardening.
