SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. In a scalable video system method of upsampling image data from a first level to a second level includes determination of parameters of scaling and rounding-off in response to requirements of scalable video system to bit depth. Input data are first filtered according to a first spatial direction using a first parameter of rounding in order to generate first upsampled data. By scaling first upsampled data using a first shift parameter, first intermediate data are generated, which are then filtered according to a second spatial direction using a second parameter of rounding in order to generate second upsampled data. Then by scaling second upsampled data using second shift parameter, second intermediate data are generated. Final upsampled data can be generated by cutting off second intermediate data.

EFFECT: technical result consists in maintaining accuracy of upsampling operations.
