SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to antenna engineering. The disclosed method of determining the beam pattern of a phased antenna array is characterised by specifying a set of beam directions, which covers the visibility region of the phased antenna array, the aperture plane of the phased antenna array, electrical lengths from elements of which to the input of the measuring apparatus are arbitrary, is placed at an angle to the front of the plane electromagnetic wave, while using phase changers to vary phase shift of signals passing through elements of the phased antenna array, setting the beam of the phased antenna array in one of the directions of the set, measuring the amplitude and phase of the signal, the repeating the operations, each time setting the beam of the phased antenna array successively in the remaining directions, multiplying signal amplitude values, measured in each beam direction, with signal amplitude values predetermined for said directions, from one element in the phased antenna array, and combining signal phase values, measured in each beam direction, with signal phases predetermined for said directions, from one element in the phased antenna array.
EFFECT: invention improves accuracy and speeds up determination of the beam pattern of phased antenna arrays.
