FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, cardiology, radial diagnostics and can be used for diagnostics of visceral obesity. Computed tomography is performed at symmetrical relative to medial line of body horizontal position of patient with obtaining computer-tomographic images of two transverse cuts of trunk 7 mm thick at the level between II and III lumbar vertebrae and between IV and V lumbar vertebrae (levels LII-III and LIV-V). On each cut areas of visceral adipose tissue are identified with isolation of zone of abdominal cavity on abdominal fascia, and on posterior surface - with elimination of muscles of the back. After that, the sum of areas of visceral adipose tissue at level LII-III and LIV-V is calculated. If values of index of the sum of areas of visceral adipose tissue on two levels is 223 cm2 and higher, visceral obesity is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method ensures high accuracy, availability, simplicity and promptness of visceral obesity diagnostics.
