FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: fuel and air mixture (FAM) is fed into the overpiston space, compressed, and the compressed mixture ignition is enabled. During the compression, singlet oxygen (SO) is generated from molecular oxygen in the combustion chamber. The start moment of generating SO on the crank rotation (CR) angle is set on the basis of its optimum value calculated depending on the engine operation mode and the FAM composition. The value of the monitored parameter (MP) characterizing the combustion and/or expansion process is measured and compared with a predetermined value. According to the comparison result, the SO generating duration by the CR angle is set. The moment of the fuel ignition on the CR angle, the position of maximum pressure and temperature of the gases in the combustion chamber on the CR angle etc. are used as MPs.
EFFECT: improved stability of the engine operation, expanded range of its stable operation.
