FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: generating SO from molecular oxygen in the overpiston volume (OPV) of a piston engine (PE) is provided using laser radiation. Wherein at least a single injection into the OPV into the PE cylinder is carried our during one operation cycle, and the interposition of the laser radiation axis and the fuel torch axis is set so as to ensure their intersection in the OPV. Starting generating singlet oxygen is carried out ahead with respect to the moment of fuel injection into the OPV, wherein the duration of the SO generating process as per the engine crankshaft rotation angle is corrected taking into account the PE operation mode.
EFFECT: reducing energy costs for producing the necessary amount of singlet oxygen.
