FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to dentistry. To measure bone structures of the temporomandibular joint on a CT scan, height of the joint head, width of the glenoid fossa and width of the joint head of the temporomandibular joint are measured. All plotting and measurements are carried out on printed CT scans. The first line passing through the top of the articular tubercle and the most prominent point of the lower boundary of the external auditory meatus is plotted; at the intersection of the first straight line with the center of the articular head a point is marked from which a perpendicular is plotted to the first straight line to the top of the articular head. The length of the plotted perpendicular is equal to the height of the joint head. A second straight line parallel to the first line is plotted through the middle of the perpendicular, the segment between the intersection points of the second line and the external borders of the articular head is equal to the width of the articular head. The segment between the intersection points of the second line and the walls of the glenoid fossa is equal to the width of the glenoid fossa.

EFFECT: ambulatory diagnosis of temporomandibular joint pathology based on the measurements on printed computer tomograms.
