In the coronal plane measure the width of the medial portion of the joint space, measuring the length of a line between the most protruding point of the medial surface of the articular head of the condylar process of the lower jaw and the point on the medial surface of the glenoid fossa and the width of the lateral portion of the joint space, measuring the length of a line between the most protruding point on the lateral surface of the articular head of the condylar process of the lower jaw and the point on the lateral surface of the glenoid fossa surface. In the axial plane passing through the mid-height of the articular head of the condylar process of the lower jaw, determine the maximum width of the anterior portion of the joint space between the point on the medial surface of the articular head and the point on the surface of the glenoid fossa in the widest part of the joint space.
