SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the storage method for potatoes. The method includes the use of numerous potato tubers in the internal state of rest or in the state of winter dormancy, and the storage of potatoes in the controlled gaseous atmosphere containing carbon dioxide. At the first step of the storage in the first gaseous atmosphere, the carbon dioxide content differs from the content of carbon dioxide in the second gaseous atmosphere at the second storage step. The invention also relates to the method of the potato storage in the controlled gaseous atmosphere in which the first gaseous atmosphere containing carbon dioxide is substituted with the second gaseous atmosphere containing carbon dioxide, in response to germination of holes in at least one potato tuber. Storage of numerous potato tubers at the second storage step in the second gaseous atmosphere is carried out by maintaining the carbon dioxide at the level below the selected threshold for the regulation of sugar content in the potatoes.

EFFECT: invention provides the suppression of the potato tubers germination during their storage combined with the low sugar content in the stored potatoes.
