SUBSTANCE: invention refers to discrete data transmission systems and may be used for error correction and recovery of erased symbols in received messages. The technical result is achieved due to the fact that the received information code characters are input to the decoder information registry on the receiving side, syndrome characters are input to the decoder syndrome registry, the decision on the erased information character is taken based on the decoder threshold element signal, and the erased information character is corected, at that prior to correction of the erased information character, the attribute of the erased information character is input to the decoder information registry based on the decision on the erased information character, the number of erased characters that took part in formation of each syndrome character is input to the decoder syndrome registry, and the erased information character is corrected, provided that the decision was made that this character is the only erased character that took part in formation of the syndrom character included into verifications related to the decoded character, then the attribute of the erased information character is erased from the decoder information registry, and the correct value is input.

EFFECT: invention provides enhanced correction ability when receiving digital information.
