FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: semi-submersible icebreaker is proposed, containing an underwater hill with an ice-breaking device in the form of three rams with inclined destructive ribs located along the hull on its top, and an above-water portion consisting of a superstructure fixed on the solid fin. Destructive ribs of the middle ram are offset to the bow and stern relative to the board rams ribs and located at an acute angle to the horizontal plane of the underwater hull. The icebreaker underwater hull is a broad flat design, formed as a low aspect ratio wing with a hydrodynamic profile. The underwater hull comprises ballast tanks, which occupy the entire free volume of the hull.
EFFECT: improved performance of the icebreaker.
