FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used for production of calcium-containing material for treatment of metallurgical melts. In the process after the granulation process is carried passivation process resulting granules by evacuating said installation to a residual pressure minus 0.2–0.3 kgf/cm2 with its subsequent filling with a dosed amount of passivating gas and creation on the granules or its alloys of a passive shell containing calcium compounds, wherein passivating gas used is air, oxygen, fluorine or hydrogen fluoride. Calcium-containing material is obtained in form of granules of calcium or its alloys with size of up to 5.0 mm with passive shell containing calcium compounds.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to create a shell of granules, which prevents merging of formed drops, which allows to disperse filler and, accordingly, to increase area of its interaction with metallurgical melt, and also to increase degree of calcium assimilation.
