SUBSTANCE: negative electrode potential during charging is less than or equal to the critical potential of the charging process. The invention also relates to the method for storing and releasing electrical energy, comprising the said charging stage, and to the air-zinc element suitable for carrying out the said charging method and the discharging phase. Increasing protection of the air electrode from degradation in the inventive method is provided by using the second positive electrode in the charging phase, which is involved in the oxygen evolution reaction, and maintening the negative electrode potential during the charge less than or equal to the critical charge potential, restricts formation thereon the zinc precipitate as a foam or dendrites.

EFFECT: increasing the service life of the air-zinc element is the technical result of the invention.
