FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: blood sample is taken from a child, and formaldehyde content is determined, at its concentration of 2 or more times higher than the background level, rhinomanometry is performed to establish the total volume flow and total resistance. Also, laboratory tests are conducted to establish the following laboratory diagnostic indicators: eosinophilic-lymphocytic index; IgE level; level of IgE specific for formaldehyde; immunoglobulin level A IgA; phagocytic number; phagocytic index; lipid hydroperoxide level; malondialdehyde MDA level in blood plasma; AOA antioxidant activity of blood serum. When total volume flow increase by 50% compared to the normal value and total resistance reduction by 25% are determined, at presence of the following abnormalities in laboratory diagnostic indicators: eosinophilic-lymphocytic index excess of more than 1.3 times compared to the physiological age norm; IgE level excess of more than 1.5 times; phagocytic number excess of more than 1.3 times; lipid hydroperoxide excess of more than 1.2 times; MDA level excess of more than 1.2 times or more, and IgA level reduction by 15% or more compared to the physiological age norm; phagocytic index reduction of more than 1.2 times; AOA level reduction of more than 1.3 times, at the presence of IgE specific for formaldehyde, allergic rhinitis associated with toxic effects of technogenic formaldehyde is diagnosed, and it is diagnosed in the event that the said rhinomanometry results and laboratory diagnosis indicator deviations are present in the child in an amount of at least 2/3 of the foregoing deviations.
EFFECT: creation of an informative and evidence-based method for diagnosing of allergic rhinitis in children associated with exogenous toxic exposure to technogenic formaldehyde, allowing subsequent adequate therapy and complications prevention.
