SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the preparation of cyclopentane from a fraction of pyrolysis gasoline, comprising: obtaining, in a column, the fractionation of the upper product C5-Hydrocarbons and bottoms of hydrocarbons C6+, Catalytic hydrogenation of the upper product and subsequent separation of the fraction by rectification. The process is characterized in that a piperylene-containing fraction of pyrolysis gasoline is used as the raw material, and the upper product of the fractionation column is sent to a two-stage hydrogenation at a reactor bottom temperature of no more than 30°C, and the top not more than 120°C, the hydrogenated fraction is diverted to rectification by separating the fraction containing cyclopentane as the bottoms product, and as the upper product hydrocarbons having a boiling point lower than that of cyclopentane, some of which are mixed with the top product of the fractionation column before it is fed to the reactor Hydrogenation in a weight ratio of 9÷14:1.
EFFECT: method is a simple and economical way of obtaining cyclopentane by processing the side fraction of the pyrobenzene-piperene-containing fraction of pyrolysis gasoline.
