FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for processing of pentane-containing hydrocarbon fractions to isolate cyclopentane from pyrolysis gasoline subjected to hydrofining to remove diene and acetylene compounds. Process of invention comprises distillation of hydrogenate. In the first rectification column, C5 fraction containing cyclopentane and cyclopentene is isolated as distillate and routed to rehydrogenation on platinum- and nickel-containing catalyst and therefrom to further rectification, wherein pentane-isopentane fraction is isolated as overhead and, as still residue, product containing 50.0-85.5% cyclopentane. Side-cut distillate contains 80.0-99.5% cyclopentane. Still residue is preferably fed into next rectification column to recover cyclopentane as distillate.
