FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: in the method of usage of an aluminium-air galvanic element by discharge, according to the invention the element discharge is carried out in two stages, where the first stage discharge is carried out in an electrolyte containing alkali metal chloride, and the second stage discharge is carried out when the first stage is complete, by adding into the electrolyte alkali metal hydroxide which is deposited in the element until the first stage of discharge starts. The first stage discharge is carried out in an electrolyte containing alkali metal chloride such as sodium chloride and/or potassium chloride in a concentration range of 30-250 g/l. The alkali metal hydroxide is added in solid form or as a concentrated solution containing sodium hydroxide and/or potassium hydroxide in a concentration range of 500-750 g/l. The alkali metal hydroxide is added to the electrolyte after the first stage of discharge in an amount sufficient to obtain a solution in a concentration range of 30-150 g/l of alkali metal hydroxide.
EFFECT: increased specific capacity of aluminium-air elements and increased use of anodes.
