SUBSTANCE: head unit of the circular stapling device comprises a cylinder unit and an anvil unit. The cylinder unit comprises a cylinder, a staple pushrod located within the cylinder, and a staple cartridge mounted at the distal end of the cylinder, wherein the distal end of the cylinder unit is the cartridge surface. The cylinder contains a tubular casing, a support tube located in the casing, and a stiffener attached between the casing and the support tube. The casing has the first cavity for reception of tissues to be excised. The proximal end of the casing is connectable to the housing of the circular stapling device and the distal end of the casing is adapted to mount the cartridge. At least one opening communicating with the first cavity is arranged on the side wall of the cylinder casing. The distance from the distal end of the support tube to the cartridge surface is greater than the distance from the opening distal end to the cartridge surface, wherein the opening is viewed from at least a portion of the first cavity. The anvil unit contains a ring and a rod firmly united with each other. The rod is adapted to slide in the longitudinal direction within the support tube. The circular stapling device includes a housing and the aforementioned head unit connected to the distal end of the said housing.
