FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to microscopic examination of cytological specimens. The cytological specimen preparation system includes a retainer for cells, a cell surface modifier for cell surfaces modification, the first (103) and the second (105) supporting means for the specimen, each having at least two sides. Cytoplasmic or nuclear dye colorant is applied on at least one side of at least one of the supporting means. The first and second supporting means for a sample are attached to each other by a hinge. The process of cytological specimen preparation includes the stages of specimen cell fixation with a retainer, specimen cell surface modification by the cell surface modifier, provided with the first (103) and the second (105) supporting means for the specimen, having at least two sides, cells application on any of the first and second supporting means and cells coating by the first or the second supporting means, respectively. Application of the method or system for at least one target, selected from the group consisting of cancer screening, cancer diagnosis, prognosis with respect to the therapy, accompanying the observation of this cancer therapy.

EFFECT: invention provides simplification and automation of the study process of a cytologic specimen.
