FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method of non-destructive testing of the surface metal layer roughness consists in measuring the thermoEMF that occurs when the heated electrodes are in contact with the controlled article and compared to the thermoEMF of the reference sample; two equally heated electrodes of the same material are used and mounted on the controlled article and reference sample. Simultaneously with the thermoEMF measurement, the temperature of the heated electrodes is measured after a predetermined time interval. The temperature difference between the first and second heated electrodes is determined, and the surface layer roughness is judged from its value, and the conformity of the reference sample material to the controlled article is judged according to the thermoEMF.
EFFECT: surface layer roughness control of metal of different foundings.
